Class : KG to IX
Origami
A very exciting craft activity of making a Tulip flower using origami paper was conducted in class K.G., which gave students the opportunity to learn about different parts of a plant and also to hone their fine motor skills, observation skills and creativity.

Workshop on introducing yourself

A workshop on introducing yourself was conducted for the students of class K.G. to sensitize them about, how to introduce yourself which helps them “break the ice” when we meet new people. The main objective of this workshop was to develop a perspective which brings with it a respect and consideration for others. Introduction is the first step in a conversation. First Impressions count a lot. We never get second chance to make a first impression. Children had great fun introducing themselves to their fellow students.

Germination of seeds The students of class K.G. learnt step by step process of seed germination. They planted some seeds and followed the growth of the seedlings as they sprouted from the soil. Children had fun growing plants and also by taking proper care of the plants. The aim of this activity was to teach children about plant’s growth and also about our natural world in fun and exciting way, giving them a sense of responsibility and respect for their surroundings

Aerobics
Exercises help us to stay fit and healthy. Aerobics is a blend of fitness and enthusiasm. They learn rhythm to do exercises and this also keeps them fit. Kids enjoyed new ways of doing aerobics and participated energetically. All the students felt great after the session.

Cooking and Baking


Russian Salad
Children were excited to learn Russian salad. They had hands on experience of making the salad. The students participated in chopping pineapple and apple into small pieces and mixing it with boiled macroni and mayonnaise. They seasoned it with salt, pepper and herbs and relished it.

Fruit Cream
The students of class II and III learned to make yummy fruit cream desert. They enjoyed delicious fruits along with fresh cream flavoured with vanilla essence and sweetened with sugar.

Idly and Coconut Chutney
Children enjoyed the activity as they learned to make the delicacies of South India. They made coconut chutney with fresh coconut and other ingredients that are easily available at home. They felt that it’s a nice option in the morning as well as an evening snack and wished to try it at home too.

Computer Operations and Maintenance
The session was divided into two parts. The students were first taught about the working of Cell Phone technology. A self-made presentation was shown which made them aware about how the mobile phones work and what actually happens in roaming.
In the second half of the activity, the students were introduced to a popular photo editing tool – Adobe Photoshop.

Electricals and Electronics
The concept of electricity and its types were explained to the students with the help of an experiment. They learned about the properties of charges (+ve and –ve)and their interaction.
They performed the experiments demonstrating the following concepts:
a) Electrostatic force
b) Conductors and Insulators
c) Like charges repel each other
d) Unlike charges attract each other

Calligraphy
The students were taught the technique of writing small letters of English Alphabet. They practiced it a lot of times until they got them correctly.

Potter Wheel
It was another exciting day with Potter’s Wheel. The students tried their hands at making pots. We could see all shapes and sizes of diyas being made by the children, till they reached perfection.

Photography
The students under this activity were given the introduction about Outdoor shooting. According to the group and age, the children were given the topics for outside shooting such as Flora & Fauna, Perspective Study and our Surroundings. Students learned about the effect of natural light and shadow.
Later, they learned image manipulation on Adobe Photoshop software. They learned to edit and enhance the picture quality, how they can change the background and how to create different layers. It was indeed a learning experience for them.

Painting
Coffee Painting had been introduced to the students. They learnt about different tones and textures, high dark and light tones because it is very important to have an idea about tones for coffee painting. Some reference is given to the students for drawing the image. Students learnt about changing a particular colour into tone and how they can give variation in painting with a simple colour. They used coffee for painting and gave an ancient look to the painting.

Book Club
The activity on Book Club was to enhance their reading skills. All students read educational books and were guided on how to make the reading effective. Enthusiastic participation of the students was there and then they shared the difficult words and increased their vocabulary too.

Dramatics
Dramatics as an activity was conducted for children of class II and III. The topic for the activity was “The Pot that died”. The children were briefed about their role in the beginning. They were asked to speak their lines and also perform according to the lines. They were also instructed to modulate their voice as per the dialogues given to them. Children enjoyed the performance completely.

Personality Development
Telephone Etiquettes and Party Etiquettes were the topics that were done with the help of “Role Plays”. We discussed – “How one should respond to the caller on the phone?”, “How to put the line on hold?”, “How to greet people on phone?”. Emphasis on Voice intonation and modulation was laid during the discussion.
In party etiquettes, we covered sub topics like table manners, eating manners and etiquettes to serve food.
Children enjoyed both the topics as they were given inputs during the discussion. Overall, it was an interactive session which had a mix of how much important is the clarity of voice on the phone combined with politeness and how well can we get adjusted and behave well in a social situation like a wedding or a birthday party.

Dance
Kathak dance has been started in the activity classes. Students used Ghungroos and started the avtivity with Pranaam phase. They were taught the steps of “SALAMI” – that is namaskar which is the starting step of Kathak. Then they were taught “TEENTAAL”. Students really enjoyed the steps and the dance activity.
