Class - Nursery                  Discovering Shadows

The children enjoyed the activity thoroughly. They were excited to see the various shadows made with hands. All the children took turns in making different shadows with their hands. They let their imagination fly and made dinosaur, rabbit and other animal shadows with hands.  They were shown shadows of moon, stars, fish and flowers (with stick puppets) through which a simple story was built up. This activity helped to bring forth the creative and imaginative side of the children.

Class - KG         Theme Party    -  Rain Dance

This was one time when the children did not sing ‘Rain, rain go away’. They were all geared up for the rain dance and wanted the party to go on and on. They splashed and played in the pool and danced to the music. It was a great opportunity for the children to beat the heat by getting drenched. After the party they were treated with their favorite snacks and juice. They were given pasta necklaces as token gifts which they proudly wore around their necks. It was a happy break for the children from their daily routine and they loved it.

Class – K .G.         Animal Collage

Children loved making the animal collage. They were identifying the animal pictures excitedly as they pasted them on the chart paper. This was a great opportunity for them to learn the names of many animals. They even categorized the animals into wild and pet animals. It also gave them a chance to work as a group. It was an intellectually stimulating experience for the children.

Class –  I         Simple Magic with playing cards

Children love magic tricks and they were excited from the moment the activity was introduced. They were thrilled when they were asked to come forward and try the magic. They were eager to learn the secret of the tricks and try out the magic themselves. It also helped to boost the confidence level of the children. All the children tried their hands at the tricks and promised to show it to their parents at home.

ASTRONOMY

Children prepared a model of solar system with the help of clay. They learnt about the planets, their position, size, their orbits, coldest, hottest, farthest and the nearest planet. Children were given this activity to know more facts about various planets. Presentation was shown to them on solar system using smart board and then a Quiz was conducted. Children enjoyed lot learning about all these facts.

QUIZ

Endangered species need our help! Various ways were discussed to protect endangered species. Inputs were taken from the students. The activity was made interactive through group discussion on the same. This was followed by a quiz based on the handouts. It was an  informative session to make the students aware of their surroundings especially, the endangered species.

ART, BATIK, TIE and DYE

The children enjoyed fabric painting they made beautiful table mats . They were thrilled when the designs came alive after putting the colours. The activity helped to bring out the creative side of the children. It was a happy and satisfying experience for them

CREATIVE WRITING & BOOK CLUB
This week children were given opportunity to select the story of their choice.  3rd and 4th graders selected ‘The Bad Elephant’ (Jataka Tales) and 5th and 6th graders selected ‘The selfish Giant’ by Oscar Wilde. Children began by reading the story aloud, followed by the story review.  Being the story selector was the job they thoroughly enjoyed.

TAEKWONDO
Taekwondo class started with some warm up and flexibility exercises. Students enjoyed kicks and punches and learnt the Korean names of kicks and punches.

DRAMA & THEATRE
The Workshop started with the introduction of the world of theatre. Students were made aware of the fact that theatre is a live performance before an audience. Acting is to pretend, to be a character in a play. The actors follow a script which can be pertaining to various aspect of human experiences and emotions. Also the importance of expressions was explained and the students were given a chance to come  forward and enact a small scene which they enjoyed doing.

YOGA
The Yoga class  started with some rotational and flexibility exercises. Parnayam – Udgeeth, Bhastrika, Anulom- Vilom, Bhiramri . Yoga Postures – Neck rotation, shoulder rotation, Wrist rotation, Toe rotation, Padmasana, Vajrasan. All of them enjoyed and learnt basic of yoga.

VOCAL MUSIC

Children were taught ‘Gayatri Mantra’ and ‘Saraswati Vandana’. All of them enjoyed singing and were given enough practice and were finally able to sing in synchronization. They also sang the three ‘Basic Alankars’ melodiously.

PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT

Kids’ table manners seem to be in short supply now days though it is a very important aspect of overall personality of a human being; hence it was selected as a topic of training. Kids were taught the basics of dining like laying tableware and flatware. It was party time as students partied while learning. They learnt the use of cutlery and honed their skills by using it and enjoying their snacks.
