Class VII Presentation (DNA: Unravelling the Genetic Code)
The students at K.R. Mangalam never settle for easy things. Their thirst for knowledge goes way beyond textbooks and classroom teaching. Keeping this in mind, the students of Class VII organised a Class Presentation on 14 January 2015 on the strenuous yet fascinating topic “ DNA: Unravelling the genetic Code”.
The Presentation began with the scene depicting the Uttrakhand Flood Tragedy and how the forensic scientists find the biological parents of a child through DNA test when two sets of parents claim the child. The concept of DNA and the procedure of DNA testing were thoroughly explained in a very simplified manner through videos. Equally informative were the power point presentations displayed side by side.
The main highlight of the presentation was the introduction to the theory of cloning that was something new and interesting for both parents and students. The Keynote of the entire concept of Cloning was to explore this ethical dilemma and decide whether we should Clone humans or not and whether God is ready to give up on his designation of being a sustainer. This was well- explained through a street play which concluded by saying “Human cloning is beneficial, but we may have to face the after math”. Parents were asked to share their views on the same.
The Presentation received huge rounds of applause and a lot of praise from the parents, Principal Ma’am and co-ordinator ma’am as they highly appreciated the confidence, creativity and in-depth knowledge of the students. All students and teachers worked very hard for this presentation, and their hard work bore fruits.
