Friday Activity - 29th October
Class I “Pasting Sand On The Picture Of An Elephant”
This fun filled activity was conducted by Ms. Kanchana, Bhavna, Anuradha and Ira. Sand is a material full of creative and aesthetic potential. Children love playing with it at the sand table as well as the beach. ‘Pasting sand on the picture of an elephant’ helped the little ones from class I to work on their eye and hand co-ordination, fine motor skills and Creativity. Children were provided with a picture of an elephant, fevicol, brush and sand. They pasted sand on the picture and thoroughly enjoyed doing the activity.
ART, BATIK, TIE and DYE “Fabric Painting On Round Table Cover”
Fabric painting activity was conducted by Ms. Pooja Mohla and Priya Chauhan. Fabric painting is a fun activity for young children. All sorts of items can be spiced up with fabric paint and pens. When the children traced the pattern on the fabric provided to them, and filled colours in it, they were thrilled to see the designs come alive in front of their eyes. The activity helped to bring out the creative side of the children. It was a happy and satisfying experience for them.
“Astronomy”
Astronomy, a natural science that deals with the study of celestial objects has always thrilled the minds of little learners. In order to teach children about the exciting world of outer space “air powered Bottle Rocket models” were prepared. The children were divided into groups of two and two models were prepared. This was followed by a presentation on definition and history of rocket, which included information on ISRO and rockets and satellites launched by India. The activity unleashed a wave of scientific temperament among the children.
“Creative writing and book Club”
The activity on Creative writing was conducted by Ms. Asha and Rakhee Bajaj. Teaching a child how to do creative writing involves a lot of fun and enjoyment. A good way of asking children to use their descriptive writing skills is through ‘Picture Reading’, which was the task for this week. The children had let their imaginations run wild and had come up with some wonderful stories about the picture. Ranging from horror to comedy, from mystery to tragedy, their stories had it all. It was an activity they enjoyed doing.
“Theatre”
The wokshop started with the introduction of the world of theatre. The students were made aware of the fact that Theatre is a live performance before an audience. Acting is to perform and pretend to be a character in a play. The actors present a story about some aspect of human experience. The performance is usually a type of play - a tragedy, comedy, or musical, where the actors follow a script. Facial expressions and body language play a vital role in theatre.
Senior Group (Classes V to VII)
The theatre workshop for senior group was conucted by Ms. Shilpa Awasthi and Renu Ahuja. Children were made aware of the fact that Facial expressions and gestures that are shown with varying degrees of motion, gentleness or force convey different meanings. In order to provide the students with a training on expressions, they were given a chance to come forward and enact a small scene, which they enjoyed doing.
  Junior Group (Classes II to IV)  
Junior group theatre Activity was conducted by Ms. Neeru and Shefali. The students of this group enacted the Play “Krishna and Sudhama”. The children were given a chance to perform different characters from the play with emphasis on facial expressions.
“Personality Development" (Meeting and Greeting)
The Social Etiquette training was imparted to the participants by Ms. Bela and Shweta in order to groom them as confident and well behaved Citizens. The training included two activities:
Activity- 1
• The students were given role plays through which they could introduce themselves to each other.
• The common mistakes were identified followed by a Power Point presentation.
• The students were then divided into groups and each group was given a new name. After introducing themselves to others, the children were asked to recall the names given to others.
• This was followed by another Power Point presentation on Tips for remembering names and the role play ended.
Activity-2
• This time the children were divided into groups of two and were asked to introduce themselves to their partners with a handshake. Common problems were again identified followed by a PowerPoint Presentation.
• The day ended with the role play where the children were expected to apply what they had learnt.
CLAY MODELLING
Clay modeling activity was conducted by Mr.Jitender, Ms.Meenu and Ms.Pooja Bhasin. This Friday the theme was 7 and half head human figure. The objectives of the activity were –clay handling, proportion, joining and draping. During the activity, the students were taught to make a 7and half head human figure. The students learned the technique to join respective body parts through the activity. They were also given a brief idea of draping cloth and texturing on human figure. Children enjoyed doing this exercise which was fun mixed with a blend of knowledge. It was a good learning process for all the children.
QUIZ CLUB
Quiz club was conducted by Pooja Ydav and Neha Matta. This week students learnt about their national game, hockey. They got familiar with the legends of the sports. Along with hockey they also enjoyed learning about football. They showed enthusiasm about both the games. A sense of appreciation was developed towards the sport and the players after the quiz session.
“YOGA”
The Workshop on Yoga was conducted by Mr Rajkumar Raghav. It started with UDGEETH PRANAYAM , which was followed by PADMASANA and OM Uchharan. YOGA POSTURES like MATSYASANA, TRINGLE POSTURE , SURYA NAMASKAR, SITHLE and UJJAYI etc were also taught to the children. The children thoroughly enjoyed doing the refreshing postures and were also made to understand the difference between Yoga and Pranayam and the importance of both in paving a way to a healthy body and mind.
“VOCAL MUSIC”
Vocal music class was conducted by Ritu Wasan and Priyanka.
The Students were taught a new Diwali song “Aaj Ki Raat Kare Door Andhera”. Initially they were made to write the lyrics and finally they were made to sing. The children thoroughly enjoyed singing the peppy song.
“TAEK-WON-DO”
The Taekwondo class started with warm up excercises like side stretch, Apcha Ollgi, front raising kick, Neeriyo Chagi , in to out kick, to name a few.
The technique which was targeted to be imparted to the students through the workshop was the “Self defense technique”. It included three step spiring (Sammam Sogi). The children exhibited a lot of enthusiasm in learning the technique which helped in raising the confidence level of the children.
DEBATE CLUB.
Debate club was conducted by Ms. Runa Nanda and Ms. Saniya Puri on 29th Nov. In this activity, what is a debate and the different steps which a participant needs to ponder over before he/she gets into a debate were discussed. Simple topics were given to both the groups, senior and junior, on which they had conducted a debate.
Finally the most important aspect of a debate i.e. the manner to conclude the discussion was explained to the students. Overall, it was good learning experience for all the students of the debate club.
