FRIDAY ACTIVITY REPORT- Class II-IX

WORKSHOP on HYGIENE
|
|
|
|
Workshop on hygiene was a superb one as students participated enthusiastically and
were excited to share their views about it. Students were shown a PowerPoint presentation
followed by a class discussion on two aspects covering hygiene:
- Clean Body
- Good Habits
Children first talked about different aspects of a clean body i.e. from top to toe;
bathing every day, brushing teeth twice a day, etc. Second facet took a whole new
dimension as children talked about keeping their surroundings and belongings neat
and tidy.

|
COOKING AND BAKING
|
|
|
|
This week children of classes 4 to 9 made delicious chocolate cake (eggless) using
condensed milk & other ingredients. This cake was prepared in all of 8 minutes
in Microwave Oven. This recipe was liked by all students especially those who are
vegetarians. Children learned to make chocolate fudge icing as well. Children of
classes 2 & 3 learned to make 2 types of mocktails – Ruhafsa Fizz & Fresh
Lime Soda. Children found these drinks refreshing to beat the summer heat.

|
BOOK CLUB
|
|
The activity started with the discussion on video games as the topic was “Computer/Video
games”. So after a brief discussion, children had a debate on the topic. It was
nice seeing them putting up their points confidently. They all spoke really well.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
QUIZ CLUB & ELCOUTION
|
|
A quiz on “Animals and their young ones” was organized for the children of class
II and III. Teachers helped them in writing various animals names and their young
ones. After a discussion, a short quiz was conducted by the teachers. Equal participation
was there from all the students. The children answered enthusiastically and enjoyed
a lot.

|
|

|
AEROBICS
|
|
Children first repeated all the exercises done in the earlier classes then they
started of with the exercises that focused on the leg movement coordination. Initially
they were slow but gradually towards the end of the activity, they did the exercise
perfectly. They enjoyed the activity thoroughly.

|
|
|
|
|
|
POTTER’S WHEEL
|
|
Potter’s Wheel is an exciting activity for children. All the students tried their
hand at making Agarbatti stand. We could see beautiful and creative agarbatti stand
made by the children. In the next class, children made flower pots. They observed
the potter moving his finger over the clay. They enjoyed every moment of the activity.

|
|
|
|
|
ECO CLUB
|
|
Students have learnt how to make a handmade sheet. They have learnt about recycling
of the old newspaper and got a new recycled paper.
|
|
|
|
|
|
CANDLE MAKING/HAND EMROIDERY
|
|
Students learnt to make fancy envelops with handmade sheets and decorated it with
mirror and coloured tapes. Embroidery was started with the teaching of simple stitches
like stem stitch, chain stitch and laizy-daizy. Students stared their lesson with
learning simple things like putting thread into a needle, making a knot and finishing
the thread.

ELECTRICALS AND ELECTRONICS
|
|
The activity was conducted by an external faculty. Students were explained about
the conductors and insulators. They were told about some important definitions such
as Resistance, Potential difference and electric field. They also learnt about two
primary source of electricity:

Cells and batteries

Generators
The session came to an end with a few demonstrations such as

To glow a bulb with a switch
-
To glow a multibulb in a serial circuit
-
To glow a multibulb in a parallel circuit
-
To measure current of the circuit using a multimeter
The children had a great learning experience.

|
COMPUTER OPERATIONS AND MAINTENANCE
|
|
The sessions mainly focused on knowing the language of the computers i.e. bits and
bytes, analog and digital, how an IP address is actually a 32-bit address and also
about the base-2, base-10 and base-8 and base-16 system. They also learned about
the working of the modem and terms like baud rate and bandwidth. Last session in
the month focused on the basic home maintenance tips such as scan disk, running
virus checks, managing the startup menu and also about running software updates.

|
PAINTING AND TIE & DIE
|
|
As a part of the painting activity, the students of class II and III made a stein
glass painting. They were provided with a stein glass kit. The glass had outlines
drawn on it. The students used their creativity to fill the outlines with colours.
They looked full of excitement as they dropped colour and saw their creation came
to shape.

|
|
|
|
|
PHOTOGRAPHY
|
The activity was started with a powerpoint presentation on types of Camera. They
learned about the types of camera i.e.. SLR – Single Lens Reflector, TLR – Twin
Lens Reflector, Digital Camera, etc. and their working. The outdoor study was done
so they learned how camera works in natural light and shadow. They clicked images
of nearby area of school premises.
Students learned about the different views possible in the camera. They also came
to know about the shapes, perspective and composition in this field.

|
DANCE
|
|
Dance activity began with the introduction to the KATHAK dance style. They wore
ghungroo and performed pranaam. Then they were taught “tatkaar”, eye expressions
and “MUDRA”. Students took great interest and they enjoyed the activity.
