FRIDAY WORKSHOP REPORT HELD ON 15.4.2011

Class KG        
SENSE ORGANS

A very enlightening workshop on sense organs was conducted for class KG with an objective to sensitize the students about the significance and functioning of our sense organs. Students were also briefed about how to take good care of our sense organs. Children were exposed to multifarious activities for each of the sense organs such as hearing, touching, seeing and smelling. Students thoroughly enjoyed themselves in the interactive session of tongue. They tasted salty, sweet, sour and bitter food items. The session was concluded by drinking refreshing Roohafza which rejuvenated them. It proved to be an enriching learning experience.

Class I            
BLOCK PRINTING

Block printing workshop was conducted for class I. Students were provided with drawing sheets, colours,blocks and brushes. They made cards for their dear ones. The enthusiasm shown by the children was worth an applaud.

Class II           
GIFT WRAPPING

Gift Wrapping workshop was conducted for class II. They were shown different ways of gift wrapping. They also learned how to make their gift look more attractive and presentable by decorating it with mirrors, stars and paper flowers. Children enjoyed the workshop a lot.

Class III          
VEGETABLE PRINTING

A workshop on “Vegetable Printing” was conducted for the students of class III. The theme for the workshop was Nature. Children were given vegetables such as ladyfingers, onions and beetroot. Vegetables were dipped in colours and used. They used them to depict nature on a sheet of paper. In the end, children were excited to see the beautiful scenery come alive with vibrant hues.

Class IV          
SALAD MAKING

Salad making workshop was conducted for class IV. It was a very refreshing workshop as it took the students away from their daily routine. They learnt the importance of eating fresh vegetables. There was a discussion on different types of salads and their nutritive values. They enjoyed making the salad and relishing the same.

Class V           
FLOWER DECORATION

Class V students had a workshop on flower decoration. Students were taught how to make a front facing flower arrangement. The class was divided into four groups, each group comprising of six students. The students made four arrangements. Students enjoyed thoroughly and it was overall a good learning experience.

Class VI          
VERMICOM POSTING

Vermicomposting workshop was conducted for class VI. Students learned about the difference between composting and vermicomposting. They really enjoyed the workshop as to how they can manage the bio-degradable or organic waste we are producing at home. Worksheet related to vermicomposting was distributed to students.

Class VII        
NEEDLE WORK

Class VII students had a workshop on embroidery. It focused on basic knowledge of stitching. The students, boys as well as girls, were taught running stitch and stitching of buttons. They enjoyed a lot as most of them were using and holding the needle for the first time.
‘Needlework’ workshop was organized to make our students further self-sufficient, versatile and skillful.  Being the first workshop of its kind for them, the children from class VII started their introduction with the needles by learning ‘Running stitch’ and ‘Button stitching’. Boys and girls showed equal enthusiasm and calibre and came up with wonderfully neat handwork.

Class VIII       
RANGOLI

Rangoli workshop was conducted for class VIII. Students learnt how to make rangoli with the help of flowers. They were quite enthusiastic about preparing rangoli. There was good involvement and they came up with excellent ideas. They worked as a team and accomplished their task fast and in the best way.

Class IX          
AUTHOR TALK

Author Talk workshop for class IX started with the discussion of short stories written by O Henry. Students have read his book or will be reading in the years to come. It was a two-way session where students gave their inputs on his work. A presentation was shown on his life. They were surprised to know that O Henry is a fictitious name used by an author to conceal his or her identity. It’s a pen name for Sir William Sydney Porter. Some of his major work was discussed. The gift of Magi was one of his greatest works.
