FRIDAY ACTIVITY REPORT
MAGIC SHOW
Excitement filled the air as the children of Pre-Nursery Nursery & K.G. waited for the magic show to begin. The children observed full of awe, as things appeared and disappeared. It was an enthralling experience for some students, as they helped the magician perform some tricks on stage. All felt spellbound by the magical tricks and enjoyed the show thoroughly.

Class - KG
TEARING & PASTING
This fun filled activity was conducted in class K.G. Children enjoyed a lot tearing colourful papers and pasting it on their favourite things like balloons, kite, boat and many more. It was a happy learning opportunity for them as the activity aimed at developing their fine motor skills and also reinforcing the concept & colours and shapes.

AEROBICS
The session started with a few warm up exercises. After the warm up session, stretching exercises were done by the students on the drum beats with the great enthusiasm. Young kids also enjoyed Trampoline during the activity. Children understood the necessity of exercises in life.

ANIMATION & MULTIMEDIA
The first class was an ice-breaking session with the students. Being so much influenced by the media and cartoons, children were enthusiastic on how it works. Animation is optical illusion of motion. The concept of animation, its definition, examples and its need was explained. Students were told about Macromedia Flash which is a multimedia graphics program that will be used during the activity. Flash MX interface and a brief on stage, timeline, layers and tools was given.
The demonstration of motion tweening and shape tweening was given using Flash MX. Students tried their hand on motion tweening and shape tweening on different images.
The students have been asked to come up with small animation projects. The projects will be brainstormed in the next session and work will be started on them.

BLOCK PRINTING & TEXTURE
Colour came alive when dabbed on paper. Our little artists used vegetables and printed them on paper to create greeting cards. They observed how bitter gourd prints were used to form palm trees, flowers printed using lady fingers and clouds were formed with potatoes. The children used their imagination and creativity to compose beautiful greeting cards. Thus, the activity came to an end full of lives.

BOOK CLUB & CREATIVE WRITING
Creative writing is anything where the purpose is to express thoughts, feelings and emotions rather than to simply convey information. Writing is a form of personal freedom. Children were told about techniques used in Creating Writing. They were asked to make a notebook of coloured pages to make the activity more interesting.

CALLIGRAPHY
Calligraphy means “beautiful writing." Calligraphy can be both a delight to the eye and an inspiration to the spirit. In our technological age, the appreciation for the art of calligraphy has grown incredibly. Calligraphy is a fun hobby, a great business, and a creative art.  Students were first told about different styles. Later, they were made to practice capital ‘A’ in English Cursive Calligraphy.

SANDWICH MAKING
Sandwiches are often considered part of healthy school lunch. However, not all sandwiches are created equally. Some are nutritious and some are sinfully delicious. In any form, children love it. In order to make them participate in small household household chores, this activity was conducted. They were provided bread, sauce, cheese slice and Aloo bhujia for the same. They made sandwiches and enjoyed the activity. It was a happy and satisfying experience for them.

COOKING & BAKING
Group   I- Classes II-IV
The preparation of Fruit Chat was done by the students. It was a fun filled activity for children. They relished the fruit chat and learned about the various nutrients present in the fruits.
Group  II- Classes V- IX
The girls of class V – IX waited in anticipation for their first class in cooking and baking. They listened with utmost care and attention as they took notes from the teachers. They learned the recipe to prepare curd. They watched with a keen eye, the method of five dropping vegetables and the art of mixing the vegetables, spices in hung curd in order to prepare the curd. The recipe was a success as all the students relished the dip with potato wafers!!

DRAMATICS
The first session started with a round of introduction. The students then told the reason for opting dramatics as their activity. The basic emotions (anger, irritation, happiness, nervousness, scariness) were discussed. The teachers enacted some of the emotions and the students guessed them, followed by students enacting and their friends and teachers guessing the same.

1.         Individual performance of children regarding their family, hobbies etc to understand their level of confidence and eye contact and body language.
2.         Gave them a way to introduce themselves …. “I see the stars, I catch them. I see the moon, I grab it, I …. Who am I, I am ……. (name)”
3.         Introduced 4 SOUNDS of throat to strengthen the voice. These are …… hoo …… n, ish ……… h, aa………, ee …….,  oo ……. .
4.         Narrated a story – “ The boy and the cashewnuts”. Asked them to tell the title and moral of the story and to narrate the story in their own words. (story attached)

DEBATE
The topic that was discussed on the debate on 08/04/11 was ‘The Growth of Telecom-Boon or Bane’. We had two teams with four children in each. One team spoke for it and the two other spoke against. The children brought forward a lot of good reasons as to why the growth of telecom is considered a boon. They discussed mostly on how it makes life easy and saves time. The children who spoke against telecom stressed on the point that most people waste time trying to stay connected with friends all the time and it becomes an addiction. And they also added on the health hazards brought by the radiation.
It was a wonderful debate. It helped us realize how aware the children are and they also know how to use such latest technologies wisely.

ELECTRICALS & ELECTRONICS

Children were shown basic instruments of Physics Lab and their usage.

ELOCUTION
Since the excitement of World Cup 2011 was still in the air, we decided to elicit the views of young minds regarding the same. Children were very excited and they shared their experiences with lot of excitement. It was a treat to one’s eyes seeing little ones speak confidently about the same.
We also asked them to pen down “Their last outing they enjoyed the most”. They all wrote about the different places they visited and shared with us how much they enjoyed being there. Children used their imagination and creativity while sharing their thoughts. Thus the activity came to an end and was enjoyable.

PAINTING
Painting Class II – IV
Children did a free hand painting on 8/4/11.They have come up with the wonderful ideas. They came up with a lot of wonderful ideas. They made different type of scenes like garden scene, sceneries, Taj Mahal etc and filled them with different colours.
 It was wonderful to see their creativity. It gave us an idea of their present skills so that we can work on making them better.

PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT
Class – II – IV
“Know yourself”
Students described themselves using suitable adjectives according to their personalities. E.g.
D – darling
I – innocent
V – Vivacious
Y – Young
A – adorable.
This activity helped the students to know themselves better. They helped each other with the adjectives and they got to know each other well. A great effort was made by class II students. The activity also helped them improve their vocabulary.
“Know Ball” activity was very interactive and so children had fun doing it. A lot of enthusiasm was seen in children as they were very happy talking about themselves.

POTTER’S WHEEL
Round & Round went the Potter’s Wheel!!
The children of classes II-V enjoyed making diyas for themselves. They observed the potters make a diya. The Children put a lump of clay on the wheel and as the potter turned it at a high speed the children tried to mould it with wet hands. After trying many a times they achieved fain looking diyas as compared to crooked ones on initial tries. Thus, the class was a hit!!

PHOTOGRAPHY
The introduction to Photography was given and the following key questions were discussed with the students.

  1. What is Photography?
  2. Why Photography?
  3. Whom to Photograph?

Students learned about photography and the equipment. A detailed discussion about the light, focus and exposure was done.
Students were given introduction about Camera.

  2. Types of Camera
  3. Primary, Secondary and Tertiary Color Schemes

They also understood about “light”, how light plays a big part in photography. How manual camera is different from our latest equipment. They also learned how image cones in our camera.

QUIZ
Quiz not only enhances a child’s knowledge about some particular topics but it also makes them more aware about the world around. It helps in enhancing their perspective.
In the first two sessions con 1/4/11 & 8/4/11) the students were asked about some current events (Like the world cup & the Japan Tsunami) and we also shared information regarding the Earth and its neighbours, the number of continents and oceans. The enthusiastic response of the students was really over whelming. 

TABLE TENNIS
The table tennis class started with basic techniques like how to hold the racket and what are the rules of table tennis. All students have enjoyed and learnt a lot. Table tennis class has been divided into two groups.

INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC
All the students who have opted for synthesizer as their Friday activity were introduced to the activity. They were taught the seven swar ¼lkr Loj½] Sargam on the keyboard. On a random basic all the students were given chances to try to play the notes on the keyboard.
